Getting to know your Committee
Hi Members, I am Darren Fox ( Executive Committee member. I've been a club member to the Tauranga Citizens club since 1990. But let’s start a bit earlier.
My journey started ,born and raised in New Plymouth . My schooling years was filled of sports, bare foot rugby in primary school & football at intermediate and even made a splash or two in the swimming pool at high school.
My parents loved Tauranga & wanted to retire in the Bay from Taranaki , so I began my working career in Tauranga .
This brought me into the food trade, from a butchery apprenticeship through to Produce retailing & wholesale. I moved into garden retail management for around14 years and now at present a driver for Alsco NZ.
I mention 1990, then only around 1600 members belong to the Club. I have seen the club grow in this time & have meet so many members along the way and sad seeing members go.
The club has been a part of my life; I’ve also been an employee of the club driving the courtesy van and general duties.
Early 2000 the President of the snooker adjunct & as of today again. With my passion for Sports, I've enjoyed being part of the 8 Ball adjunct and the darts adjunct too.
But the snooker room has been where I rest the most.
This doesn’t stop there as this is my first time as an Executive member & to this, I appreciate the experience so far, I’ve seen the club succeed in 35 years and I’m sure that momentum will carry on to you in many ways. So, if you need anything I can help with , please just ask .
